Lawrence Homestead Outdoor Classroom
This year saw a couple big projects for our outdoor classroom. Historic Mesquite’s historical vegetable garden produced the largest harvest yet. This is in part due to the dedication of our Maintenance Technician and a culinary arts class from a local high school.

We have also been working on a project to revitalize the nature trail by trimming back overgrowth and removing invasive plant species.
This year we introduced our Nature Education trunk to enhance the classroom. This trunk is pulled out for school field trips and other times to provide visitors with hands-on learning about native animal life. Items like coyote and racoon pelts lets kids learn about Mesquite’s native wildlife and how the city’s development has changed their way of life.
