UT Gardens, Crossville:
Plateau Discovery Gardens

Our KinderGarden and Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom is a real gem in the Gardens. Visitors of all ages are attracted to the space with fun and educational things to do, and exciting things to see. Adults are impressed with the ingenuity of structures and painted art on signs and activity stations, while children love all the hands-on fun.

Check out the repurposed aquarium making the perfect root viewing box. Cross the bridge over the planted moat with our famous purple alligator. Make some music and move. Practice the alphabet. Learn about plants and search for pollinators. Cool off with some water play, or even build a snowman! The possibilities are endless with creative minds, and we strive to provide the materials to evoke them.

Since our space is located within our state’s botanical garden, it is everchanging and open year-round. Enjoy the beauty of the plants and the wildlife around them. Check for new additions too, as we strive to add a feature every year. Shade sails were added to provide comfort and protection from the hot sun.

Our talented Master Gardeners will soon paint the posts adding whimsical charm and more educational opportunities for Nature Explore. Whether you are a frequent or new visitor, traveling through, on a school field trip, or attending a special event, we look forward to having you.
See you soon!
