Graham Creek Nature Preserve
The outdoor classroom at Graham Creek Nature Preserve is a wonderful and safe space where families can immerse themselves in nature and create lasting memories together. This year, we’ve worked hard to ensure the classroom remains a vibrant and engaging place for learning and exploration.
Visitors to our classroom experience nature at its finest—fresh air, engaging activities, and opportunities to connect with others in the community. We’ve added new sand toys to the sand play area, refreshed the musical instruments for enhanced sensory play, applied new mulch to the walking paths for improved accessibility, and repainted the outdoor chalkboards to encourage creativity and learning. These updates, combined with our ongoing maintenance efforts, ensure the space remains welcoming and inspiring for all who visit.
Our classroom offers a rich sensory experience with something for everyone. Families can explore fruit and herb gardens, enjoy the sounds of musical instruments, build with blocks, climb spider webs, and view the classroom from an osprey nest, offering a unique bird’s-eye perspective. This year, we’ve also developed new and inventive teaching guides for our “Observe and Explore the Preserve” classes, providing hands-on learning opportunities that inspire curiosity and foster connections to nature.
Throughout the year, we host a variety of community programs and events designed for children of all ages and their families. We strive to provide opportunities that engage parents and children in meaningful ways. By maintaining and continually enhancing our outdoor classroom, we hope to inspire families to explore, learn, and grow together in the beauty of the natural world.
