Cedar River Academy at Taylor Elementary

Our outdoor classroom is continuing to grow! In May, we had our official Grand Opening in conjunction with the opening of a Story Path along our walking trail. The Story Path features 16 panels along the trail, with a storybook written by our students in the panels. The trail begins near the entrance to our outdoor classroom!

We are waiting patiently for the final installations in our music and building areas to make the classroom fully functional, but we are still enjoying the space! Our younger students have enjoyed so much imaginative play in the outdoor classroom, especially enjoying the playhouse and sandbox. Our older students use the gathering area as a space to engage in messy science experiments, and the students in our autism program use it as a space to explore their environment!

This summer we are planning an in-depth training for our entire staff to help them utilize the space to its full potential. Rapid Roots has come so far this year, and we’re excited for its future!
