Civic League Day Nursery
All of our students enjoy the outdoor classroom twice a day, everyday! Our extended time outdoors gives hours of marvelous creative work and play time. Our staff and children maintain the classroom by caring for our gardens and landscape, adding more art supplies (natural and otherwise) for the art area, adding loose parts when needed and keeping storage areas organized and accessible to the children.
We are so proud to have brainstormed, designed and completed Phase II of our Nature Explore initiative, the Toddler yard in early summer 2024!
Now staff and myself are brainstorming for our Phase III project. Plans have been drawn for revamping of the lower half of the Nature Explore Classroom. Taking out blacktop and adding more green space, quiet space and an addition of a culvert for tunneling through. Stay tuned!
Our families are an integral part of our school family. Families stay and play at pick up time. Some sit by the garden and/or search for some produce. Monthly newsletters complete with photos are shared highlighting the nature based play and families always help with our spring/fall yard work.
We have had different organizations show much interest in our initiative! Our Parent Aware coach, DHS licensor, the Kiwanis club and even the contractors come and visit and then they come back with friends to show them!
