Fayette County Conservation Outdoor Playscape
The “House of Rock” became a reality thanks to the dedication and expertise of Dr. Katherine McCarville and Terry Landsgaard. When a generous community member donated an incredible collection, it arrived in 45 boxes—each filled with geological treasures from near and far.

Dr. McCarville and Terry rolled up their sleeves, carefully unpacking each box, identifying specimens, and thoughtfully curating the displays. Their work transformed what was once a stack of dusty boxes into a vibrant, educational exhibit where visitors can marvel at the beauty, variety, and history of rocks and minerals. The House of Rock now stands as a testament not only to the wonder of geology, but also to the power of community generosity and volunteer dedication.
