The Nature Explore Classroom at

Welcome to our outdoor classroom at Gilbertson Nature Center!

Located in the middle of Iowa’s scenic bluff country, there is something here to experience in every season. Cool off in our limestone splash pond or dig in our sandbox to find actual fossils! If music spurs your interest, there’s a chime and symbols to play. Be an artist with our sidewalk chalk or rock stacking! For those who need to burn off some energy, we have a soft grassy area for running around.

Visitors can also take it easy in one of our shady seating areas that offer a chance to look for various butterflies and birds visiting the flower gardens. In addition to the Nature Explore Classroom, Gilbertson Park has 5 miles of trails, a nature center, and 1000 acres of land for you to explore!
