Gulliver Preparatory School

Over the past year, we have continued to sustain and enrich our Nature Explore Classroom by deepening family engagement and expanding the ways the space supports our students’ social, emotional, and learning needs.

Families are regularly invited to participate in and help facilitate gardening experiences alongside their children and their child’s class, strengthening the home–school connection while modeling care, patience, and collaboration in a shared outdoor setting. The garden has also become a welcoming space for families to visit with their children during school visits, particularly when a child may benefit from additional support transitioning into a classroom environment.

The flexibility of the Nature Explore Classroom has allowed it to serve as a meaningful setting for social-emotional learning, offering students and teachers a calm, natural space for reflection, connection, and regulation when those moments arise. Last spring, we further enhanced the environment by adding a variety of flowers to create a more inviting and vibrant habitat—one that supports not only our school community but also local animals and insects. These additions have strengthened the sense of belonging and stewardship that the space fosters for all who use it.
