The Nature Explore Classroom at
New Horizon Academy-Salvation Army/Emerald
This outdoor classroom is attached to the Salvation Army regional offices. We are proud to offer our services to this program as it also offers a high school for pregnant and parenting teens. Not only do we have a beautiful school indoors, but these children get to use the wonderful outdoor classroom!
It is more urban than some of the other schools, but it has proved to be such a wonderful challenge to incorporate outdoor and nature materials. It may be a small area, but the garden, the double-sided music wall, and quaint nature art area are absolutely gorgeous. The children can spend an entire day outside emersed in nature. They can eat all meals outside, take their naps, and do their activities just the same as they would do inside.
The children look forward to the days that are determined to be their outdoor classroom day. They ask about it all the time! We are so proud of this space and the fact that we can offer this amazing area to children who have young parents that are working on finishing up their high school diploma brings us an even great joy!
