The Nature Explore Classroom at
A Place 2 Grow
Child Care and Learning Center, Inc.
A Place 2 Grow Child Care and Learning Center, Inc. opened in November of 2014 as a brand new center, and we wanted to bring something different to the area. We wanted to incorporate nature outside as well as inside.
AP2G just completed several upgrades to our outdoor classroom. Some of these include a tricycle track, an upgraded mud kitchen, and nice thick Bermuda sod. We have a painting and art area for the children to paint, there is a loose parts area, as well as a newly upgraded music and dancing center.
AP2G also has a garden that the children have helped plant. They have been allowed to take care of the plants, watch them grow, and eat them for snacks or lunch. We also compost our waste so we can produce our own rich fertilizer.
Being only two years old, we do not have mature trees on site yet. We do have two apple trees that have produced a couple of apples this year. We also have a small pond next to us that gives up a lot of tadpoles and frogs for the children to chase around. The parents like our outdoor area for its uniqueness, and the teachers’ ability to utilize our outdoor classroom for their daily lessons.
