Sandy Hook Child Care Center
and Preschool

Our nature classrooms continue to grow and excite our little learners. A favorite was last summer’s first annual messy materials mud kitchen bake-off! We placed our kitchens back to back and gave the children their choice of what to “bake”. There were prizes for things like prettiest cake, most realistic, etc. Everyone had a great time and is eagerly awaiting the next competition!

We have also learned to use our natural landscape to create tunnels, crawl throughs and fallen branch tree forts. We love finding branches and driftwood on our walks and bringing them back to add to our classrooms. Seashells and rocks are among our favorite sorting activities and we love creating colorful patterns with the supplies Mother Nature leaves for us.
