The Nature Explore Classroom at

We are a tiny center serving 15 children daily from birth to age 6. Our home is inside the beautiful Gateway National Park at Sandy Hook.

We are surrounded by nature and as such, it is our primary teacher. We walk on the beach, explore the historic barracks, travel the trails through the woods, and return to our outdoor classroom. We act as caretakers of our environment, cleaning the beaches and picnic areas.

We love studying the wildlife, from the birds that stop by, to the harbor seals that visit in the winter to our friends the white-tailed deer that munch from our apple tree. We love where we live and strive to teach our children to love and become champions for our planet. Explore more!
