Three Little Birds Preschool
Three Little Birds Preschool was created from a deep belief that childhood should be rooted in connection — to nature, to animals, to community, and to self. What began as a vision for a slower, more meaningful early childhood experience has grown into a small, farm-based learning environment where children spend their days outdoors exploring, caring, and discovering.

Our Nature Explore Classroom is not an “extra” space — it is the heart of our school. Each morning, children step outside into a living, breathing classroom filled with garden beds, loose parts, climbing logs, mud kitchens, and the gentle sounds of goats and chickens nearby. The environment is intentionally simple and authentic. Instead of bright plastic structures, children build with real wood, dig in real soil, and care for real animals. The work is meaningful.
Throughout the year, children plant vegetables and wildflowers, water and harvest from the garden, collect eggs, feed animals, and observe the subtle changes of the seasons. They learn patience while waiting for seeds to sprout and responsibility while caring for living things. They practice risk assessment as they balance on stumps, climb thoughtfully, and test their own limits. In this space, confidence grows naturally.
What makes our preschool special is the rhythm of it. There is time to wonder. Time to build elaborate structures from branches. Time to watch a chicken scratch the ground. Time to ask questions that do not always have immediate answers. We believe that unhurried outdoor play builds problem-solvers, nurtures resilience, and supports strong social connections.
Families often tell us they see transformation. Children who were hesitant to get dirty now proudly show muddy hands. Shy children speak confidently about gardening or animal care. Families begin planting gardens at home or spending more time outside together. Our work extends beyond the classroom and into daily life.
Maintaining this space is a shared commitment. Children participate in clean-up, garden care, and caring for our environment. They understand that beautiful spaces require stewardship. That lesson — that they are capable and responsible members of a community — may be the most important one we offer.
Three Little Birds Preschool continues to evolve, but our foundation remains the same: honoring childhood, embracing the natural world, and creating a learning environment where children feel competent, connected, and deeply valued.
Here, learning is alive. And childhood is protected.
