Usha K. Ramamurthy Family Child Care
Outdoor nature learning is an integral part of our classroom. The nature learning area provides an opportunity to explore the world through hands-on learning and helps nurture children’s interest and concern for our environment. Natural outdoor play space is a rich learning environment for all age children. The curriculum also helps children through their special way of knowing nature. The outdoor area lend themselves to meet children’s individual needs. Outdoor is open ended and flows from one area to the next that encourages children to use their imaginations, have continuity and be perceived by the children as their spaces. The environment stimulate children’s senses and to nurture the child’s curiosity, allow investigation and discovery by children with different learning styles, allow interaction with other children in the play space, and discovery by children with different learning styles.
After discussing with parents about my intent to create a nature explore outdoor classroom one of the parent volunteered to provide wood discs, cut in different sizes, from the tree he cut it down and made stumps as a seat. Another parent sanded wooden blocks that was scrap. My future plan is slowly change to more natural play equipment’s.
