The Nature Explore Classroom at

Little World of Learning

Little World of Learning is located in Shakopee, Minnesota! I have maintained a 4-star Parent Aware rating, which is the highest rating possible. Parent Aware Ratings are based on demonstrated use of practices that best prepare children for kindergarten.

In Minnesota, we are fortunate enough to have 4 very distinct seasons and children get to experience everything from trees budding to snow flying! We have 14 Nature Explore Areas in our outdoor classroom! Children help plan and plant the gardens each spring and most of our produce is used in our classroom or shared with families.

We learn to care for our 2 bunnies (Peanut and Jelly) and often feed them from our gardens as well. Children may create art from natural materials and explore the texture of sand, water, wood, flowers and plants throughout the backyard.

Mother Nature often provides us with some unintentional learning when our squirrel comes to visit, or as we watch a nest of baby wrens grow from egg to flight. We have many bird feeders and birdbaths that get frequent visitors and we can look on our bird chart to identify what kind of birds they are. We even have a family of wild bunnies that live underneath our playhouse deck. Our future plans include planting an apple tree, adding a new acrylic building table and a large root viewer garden!

Each year our families get together for a summer picnic and we get to experience all that our outdoor classroom has to offer. Won’t you come join us next year?

Come explore, discover, laugh and learn with us!
